paradise
plot summary
It turns our the afterlife isn't much of a resting place after all. The world of Paradise, or so the plane of the dead is referred to as, is caught in a constant deadly game: one that puts every man for himself and friends and neighbors against each other. The rule of the lands, DEATH, has arranged for a massive-scale game of battle royale with the stakes being a chance at becoming a God. All they have to do is consume the souls of others and reach rank five, and the power would eventually be granted to them.
The lone God, though seemingly devoid of most emotion, seems to find some enjoyment in making the game entertaining, at least, in quite a morbid way. Areas are often arranged to have areas for combat, murder weapons and armor are sold from vending machines, and traps are nearly impossible to not trip into. Additionally, many areas are loaded with hidden cameras, allowing for most of the fights to be broadcast on live air.
With this power they would be granted a spot in the Pantheon, a ruling body for all of the afterlife, and currently a lonely one. But one soul stands in the building in the age, and it being DEATH herself and DEATH alone. The city of Elysa, once a land of commerce and drink, is now much closer to a necromancer's wet dream. The walls of white being painted with moss, signs of rot and decay eating away at the outer buildings, and a desolate silence in the air of it all.
Though Paradise at one time used to be a peaceful Utopia for dead heroes to rest, that time has come to pass, as it is now a dangerous land with only one overarching rule - it is kill or be killed.
Two months ago, Death began her lethal game across in the entire plane of Paradise without too much warning. The flow of souls has been changed, and with it, the global weather has as well. The dusks loom longer, and the dawns seem to draw further and further away with each day...
